Hi Rose - Since pain is seldom a breast cancer symptom, I'd suggest you wait this out. If it's still there a few weeks from now - or certainly if it gets worse, and your breast seems infected (red, hot, swollen, painful, itchy), then best to see a doctor and find out what's up. In the meantime, please read our post on breast pain - I think it'll help you out. Good luck - PJH
Rose, I echo Pj's advice. You are feeling this pain in your breast, so it probably is a breast issue, but it is on your left side, so let the doctor know right away if you develop any heart-related symptoms like shortness of breath or pain radiating down your left arm. About ten years ago, I had breast pain similar to what you describe that turned out to be inflammation in my ribs, so sometimes pain we feel in one place is actually coming from another. Doctors call this referred pain. I hope it soon goes away on its own, but as PJ says, if it doesn't, check with the doctor.
