    Bruised feeling Nipple

I am in my mid 30's and my right nipple has a dull pain like a bruise. I do not feel any lumps, and it doesn't hurt all the time but, I also do not allow my husband to touch it. This has only recently happened within the last month, but it is not going away. What is it and any suggestions.

Christine, please read our post on nipple issues; you might find it helpful. But ultimately, only a doctor can tell you what this might be. Once you've been feeling it for more than a month, you can assume it's not related to your menstrual cycle. In general, a sore or painful nipple isn't a breast cancer symptom; nevertheless, this qualifies as a breast change, and you should consider having it checked out. If nothing else, it would be nice to get it treated; sounds painful! Best of luck - PJH

Being in agony would seem to call for a visit to your doctor. Pain in both nipples would ordinarily be considered a hormonal issue, but reddening (or a purple color) on your right nipple might point to an infection that needs treating. So, please call and make an appointment; and in the meantime, cold compresses might help lessen the pain. Here's the link for our post on nipple pain, which might shed some light on your situation: http://www.healthcentral.com/breast-cancer/c/78/174397/nipple-soreness-treatment Good luck - PJH READ MORE
