Just Diagnosed with Cancer? Chat with Experts

Monday, October 13, 2008 Michele asks

Q: White mass/ lump inside inverted nipple

I have an inverted nipple... I check it often and have found, that there is a WHITE mass inside there now... not too large but it's there... you'd think if you squeezed it , it would puss but nothing. My nipple is also itchy... I have VERY cystic breasts regardless. Does this sound normal? Regardless, I am seeing my DR. tomorrow but I'm very nervous. Thank you so much, Michele

Michele, this sounds like fibrocystic breasts - which you're already aware of. Generally tumors are internal; you can't see them. But something is pulling on your nipple, so it needs to be examined. I'm glad you're going to the doctor tomorrow, so you don't have to wait. But I would try not to stress, OK? Doesn't sound like a common breast cancer symptom. Good luck - PJH
