Hi Marlene - I'm sorry you don't have health insurance. Is there a low-cost clinic or somewhere else where you can be seen? Lumps that come with pain and tenderness usually aren't associated with breast cancer, but a breast lump should always be checked out to determine exactly what it is. This is not something you can take a chance with. If you don't know where to turn, I'd say go to your local hospital, ask to see the social services department, and plead your case. I don't believe they'd turn a woman with a breast lump away for lack of insurance. Good luck - PJH
