Q: One itchy nipple with discharge

My left nipple is frequently itchy.  I also have a white discharge from that nipple.  I had a baby 10 months ago and only breast fed for 2 weeks.  I also have had mammograms in the past for lumps that I was told were lipomas's without having had a biopsy done.  I am 33 years old an don't know if I should be concerned about this or not.  I don't want to bother my doctor if it's something I don't need to worry about.

Hi - If this same nipple continues to itch and produce discharge for longer than a month, then you should have it looked at. These aren't typical cancer symptoms, but any breast change that lasts longer than a month needs to be diagnosed. Please read our post on nipple issues for some helpful information. Good luck - PJH
