Q: grade 3 DCIS, is it very high grade

I have report says: Type: Duct carcinoma -in-situ, grade 3 , tumor size: largest focus is 0.6cm, tumor is present in two slides, microcalcifications: present in association with tumor, othoer fidings: tumor shows lobular extension, margins: tumor is present within 1mm of inked margin, TNM stage : ptis (DCIS)nxmx. is it very high  grade, it seams I can not live longer, I did not talk to my family yet. thanks

Hi Aris - Please don't think you're gong to die! You actually have the one kind of breast cancer that's 100% curable. While your diagnosis is at the rather more serious end of DCIS, DCIS is still a "fortunate" diagnosis, if you're going to have breast cancer.

 

You must have had a lumpectomy; it sounds like you need additional surgery to get clean margins. Maybe another lumpecotmy or, if that doesn't work, a mastectomy. Probably radiation, followed by drug therapy for 5 years. At any rate, please speak to your doctor. S/he should be able to reassure you that this is NOT a death sentence, not even close! I can not believed it I got answer this morning, I junst found I have a cancel last

Wed, I was so angray, I do Mammogram every year, this Feb my family doctor

called I need recheck for my left breast, I went local JFK women center to do niddle or wire testing, the result

come back was "negitive", until I do the 6 months follow up, they told me I need breast specilist doctor, I found a doctor and do the thest. she told me I need MRI test, I am waiting for

the appointment to do that test, I do not think I can trust her, she do not even explain anything to me, it seam she is vey busy no times. do you know the best hospital in New Jersy and Sugry Doctor,

Aris, I'm sorry you're having so much trouble... Luckily, New York/New Jersey area has lots of good options for cancer doctors/surgery. Please take a look at our list of Comprehensive Cancer Centers. These are facilities designated by the government as being the best in America. Hope this helps - PJH
