Just Diagnosed with Cancer? Chat with Experts

Sunday, September 28, 2008 Susan R. asks

Q: What is the life expectancy after going through all the chemos, hormone blockers and radiation?

I have been fighting metastatic breast cancer for about five years now and am at the end of all the different treatments available.  The main symptom at this time is extreme, constant pain as the main area of metastises is in my bones.  What can I expect now.  What is the life expectancy at this point?

Susan, I'm so sorry for all you've been through, and your pain. Unfortunately, there's no answer to your question; each of us has our own cancer experience. All I can say is, treatments are improving all the time, and perhaps they'll come up with something that will help you, and ease your pain as well. I'd asume you're staying in close touch with your oncologist, and I'd expect (s)he would be able to answer your questions much better than we can here, since (s)he knows the specifics of your case. I wish you the best - PJH
