Hi Rakhi - Your mom should get physical therapy on her arm/shoulder on the affected side ASAP. This is very important so that she regains full use of her arm/shoulder, which helps prevent lymphedema. The physical therapist will give her appropriate exercises to do. Other than that, she should be careful driving or riding in a car; be sure she puts a pillow between her and the seatbelt, to protect her healing incision. For lots of good tips about recovering from a mastectomy, go to our Mastectomy Insider Tips - read all the way through, because there are additional tips offered by readers at the end. Good luck to all of you - PJH
