I know this is kind of late any you already know what is going on but i wanted to let other people know that may find there self in the same position   I dont know why your doctor would tell you it is still in you or that you only had a slight chance to carry the baby. I had an iud for 3 years when i got pregnant with my last. When i went to my doctor she couldnt find it she said it may still be in there or it may have fallen out and i didnt notice but not to worry untill i had the ultrasound to check she also told me that if it were still in still in there it she wouldnt try to remove it because that may cause a misscarrage and it may cause complications but they usually get dilivered with the placenta. I had to wait 2 weeks for the check it seemed really long but when i finally got in there and they did the scan my iud was no where to be found i know it was there the month before my period had been werid and i checked after i though it was over and it was there and then i had bleeding and cramping for annother day i didnt think to check because i already had i guess that it when it came out. I now have a happy healthy 17 month old baby girl. Doctors should give you the facts but the shouldnt take away your hope if they dont know what is going on.
