I am awaiting biopsy results for calcification in my left breast along with bloody nipple discharge
Also had bloody nipple discharge which stopped before a ductogram could be performed. I am 67 years, diabetic with my first grandchild whom I am very close to both physically and emotionally. I had a stereotactic breast biopsy and am very concerned and afraid that it is cancer. I know that some calcifications are benign or may be a warning for future cancer. I had a mammogram/ultrasound less than 6 months ago for a a lump that turned out to be a lipoma on this breast. My granddaughter is always "bumping" into my chest and I cannot remember if this happened to that breast, but it is a possibility. I will see a surgeon on Monday for the results, but am expecting the best result possible. Am I being overly optimistic? Thank you.
Hi - Happy Face must describe your personality! Statistically speaking, about 85% of biopsies are negative, so no, I wouldn't say you're being overly optimistic. The doctor must have seen the microcalcifications in your breast clustering or lining up, otherwise s/he wouldn't have ordered a biopsy. And bloody discharge can be a sign of cancer. So you do have two possible signs of cancer... nevertheless, even when something LOOKS like cancer, it often isn't. So good luck - and hopefully you'll sail right through this. If not - come on back here; we can help. PJH

Thanks for answering so quickly; have you ever heard of using Fenugreek for blood sugar control? I had been taking it prior to the bleeding for about 1-1/2 months. My primary care doctor told me that it definitely influences the breast and is used in some cultures for breast enhancement. I had noticed breast engorgement along with the bleeding. I have been off the fenugreek since I had my physical but it seems to have taken at least 3 weeks to have made a difference in engorgement. I did read on Dr. Susan Love's website that nipple discharge can be caused by fenugreek. Also, I also read that diabetics have nipple discharge (again on Dr. Love's website). I know I'm trying to assure myself at least about the discharge since I know two problems make the possibility of cancer more definite.
