Hi - This sounds like an infected milk duct, or an infection in one of the small oil glands surrounding your nipple. Keep an eye on it; if it doesn't disappear within a few weeks, or certainly if it gets worse quickly, best to see a doctor, OK?

Just returned from the Dr.  She examined both my breasts and the lump. She feels it is most probably a cyst but still wants me to see a breast specialist!

Feel a little better but still worried!

Did you get a referral to a breast specialist? If your doc feels it's a cyst, that means you'll probably have an ultrasound next. It's natural to worry; but really, breast lumps that turn out to be cancer seldom are painful; "on," rather than "in;" visible from the surface, or seem infected (red)... Glad you're pursuing this. The sooner you find out what's up, the sooner you can stop worrying. Take care- PJH

Yes, I did get a referral and will be going on Thursday. I feel exactly what you say, it is there and I need to take care of it. Thank you so much for your support, I really appreciate it!
