Hi - I think the trauma in general would be more responsible than the IVs. Sounds like you had four in each arm? That really doesn't seem too excessive... Is this lymphedema that's developed years out, or was your surgery quite recent? If recent, it might be easier to deal with, as a lot of it may disappear on its own. Whatever the cause, you need to get it treated. I hope you're seeing a therapist who specializes in lymphedema, as you probably need a full program of massage, wraps, etc. Please read our lymphedema treatment FAQS for an overview.
