What is the difference between stage of cancer and class of cancer?
I was diagnosed with HER 2 Positive- Stage 2 B class 3 invasive ductal carcinoma with lymphatic invasion. What does all that mean??
Hi - It means you're pretty much right in the middle as far as "seriousness" goes -many women have less aggressive cancer than you, and many have more serious cases. The easiest way for you to understand all of this is to understand your pathology report, which is where that language comes from. You can download a PDF that'll explain it all in great (and understandable!) detail. Also read our IDC FAQS for more information. And finally, since you're HER2-positive, you'll no doubt be taking Herceptin - so you might as well read up on that, too. Stay in touch here - we can help you through this. Best of luck - PJH

My tumor was the same as yours but still considered early cancer. I had 4 different chemo's (two at a time)and Herceptin for eight months and just had 3 yr mamo and am cancer free--Survivor. Yeah. It is a tough regimen or was for me as I seemed to be ultra sensitive to chemo, but after first infusion of Herceptin it didn't give me any problems. Unfortunately I have long term side effects from Adiamycin; cytoxan. taxol and taxotere. I had one sentinel node positive so also had 33 radiation treatments. You will be fine and the hard part will be over before you know it. Good Luck to you and God Bless. Let me know how you are doing.
Hugs
Cindy
