I have pain in the tail of left breast for 6 months. It is noncyclical & causes a stabbing pain ONLY when I palpate it and seems to get 'sore' after touching it a lot. May have smooth lump. Thoughts?

Sounds like you might have a painful cyst, which can be one of the symptoms of fibrocystic change, a condition that's quite common in women your age. If you feel a lump, then you should have it examined by your doctor. All breast changes that last longer than a month, especially lumps, need to be evaluated by a doctor – to rule out cancer, even though cancer is probably the least likely cause of what you're feeling. So call your doctor and make an appointment, OK? Good luck - PJH
