Q: IDC with mets to lung would treatment be same as orig diag of Lung Cancer

56 yr old female IDC ER/PR neg HER2+++ tumor grade 3 under 2cm with micro cells in sentinnel node.  11/2005 Lumpectomy; 1/06 4 infusions of A/C every 3 weeks. Emergency gall bladder removal.   4 wkly treatments of Taxol/Herceptin major reaction  severe diarheaFrownvomiting, fatique, etc onc stopped for 2 weeks.  7 wkly infusion of taxotere/herceptin stopped one week early due to drop in blood oxygen to 78% causing scarring to left lung. Month later started Herceptin again every 3 wks to complete 52 wk treatment plan + 33 daily rads to breast.  Herceptin stopped 4 months early due to dmg to heart muscle.  I am still left with long term side effects of extreme neuropathy, no short term memory, extreme fatique, and damage to left lung.Last xray shows nodule to left lung repeat xray to be completed in two weeks.

It sounds like you don't know for sure what this lung nodule is.  If it turns out to be mets from your breast cancer, the medicines will be breast cancer drugs, not lung cancer drugs.  That's because it will still be breast cancer, just breast cancer that has taken up residence in a new place.  Of course, there may be some specific procedures specific to lungs to help you breathe.  Is there a possibility that this will be more side effect damage from your earlier treatment?  I'm not sure what constitutes good news at this point when you've already been through so much, but I hope you get the best possible diagnosis at your next appointment.
