I am in my early 30s and I have had a lump in one breast for several years which my doctor said is fibrocystic breast disease. The nipple on this side is inverted sometimes (it was not always this way) and I was wondering if this could be caused by fibrocystic breast disease? I have not had any tests done other the the doctor's diagnosis by the feel of the lump.

Leela, I don'tknow if fibrocystic breast disease can cause your nipple to be inverted, but I know fibrocystic disease is a risk factor for breast cancer, and I know an inverted nipple can be a symptom of breast cancer, so perhaps it's time for you to get someone else to check this out, if all your doctor is judging by is feeling, rather than referring your for a mammogram/ultrasound/biopsy. In my opinion, it's time for you to take some action and figure out what's going on - it would be nice to set your mind at rest, eh? Good luck- PJH
