I am a 26 year old female who has 4 kids oldest 11 youngest 5. I breast fed all of them. but the baby I dried up on and was not able to breast feed past the first month. I was put into surgical menopause in June 2008 and take the vivelle dot .01mg. My mother was diagnosed with infiltrating ductal cell carcenoma bilateral in May 2008 stages 2 and 3. She had one lymphnode infected and is 47 years old. I have been having some lumps and pain in both breasts and leakage of tan colored thick discharge from right breast only. I had a mammogram on wednesday and on friday they called to say they found a dense area one on each breast and needed an ultrasound asked if I could come in that day.Well I had the mamogram today and the us tech said they wanted her to check the lymph nodes and that the mammogram report said it was possible fibroglandular tissue and lymph nodes..What does that mean and should I be worried? I am very worried with the pain and leakage and the urgency of the drs to have the tests done so quick. Please Help me

Hi - Fibroglandular tissue is normal breast tissue. That's what it's called. We all have lymph nodes. So I'm not sure what your question is here? Your results sound normal... Write back if you have clarifying info., OK? PJH

Sorry, I didn't see your entire question first time around. Most nipple discharge is NOT from cancer. However, between the lumps, the pain, the family history, and the discharge, I think the doctors are being extra-careful. You're incredibly young to worry about breast cancer; statistically speaking, breast cancer is pretty unheard-of at age 26. But - you're doing all the right things by getting checked out. Take it one step at a time; and try not to worry too much, because the stats are definitely with you. Good luck - PJH

I have heard of it my best friend at age 29 had breast cancer both of her breast had to be removed and lymph nodes, and 1 rib.
All this because at age 26 they told her she was to young and that she only had water lumps caused by hormonal changes.

Unfortunately, breast cancer can strike at any age, right down to pre-puberty. But thankfully, it's basically an older women's disease. I'm sorry about your friend; that's tough... Just shows we all need to be aware of breast changes, and get anything that's worrisome checked out. No matter what our age. AND keeping in mind that the younger you are, the less likely you are to have breast cancer. PJH
