Q: Are there free mamograms/ screening for High risk Under 40 women

My mom was diagnosed at 44, died at 47, I was diagnosed at 38, now 53 and cancer free. Have a 26 yr old daughter- no insurance, should be screened closely, as well as a 23 yr daughter who has military insurance. Only advertised free mamograms are for those over 40...

Donna, there appear to be scattered, localized programs for women under 35 obtaining free mammograms. But I don't find anything national. I'd start with your local hospital or cancer center, ask them if they can help. If not, call Komen for the Cure's hotline - they're the biggest outreach group we have, and if anyone would know about this service, they should. 1-877-465-6636 (1-877-GO-KOMEN). Good luck - PJH
