I just had a PET, and Chest CT because my doc found a recureence in my chest wall 3 yrs after my first dx of cancer.  I was told that those test will give them a better picture of if it has spread, how much area is affected, and it is very precise in doing it all rather than just cutting you open blind.  Now that the doc has the info she needed I go into surgery tomorrow to have a bit more of my mucle removed.   It took a bit longer, but it gives her a better idea of what to expect and overall means better care for me - so I assume the same for you.  You deserve the best care you can get and it sounds as though your doctor is doing it.  I was never given this offer the first time around.  It could have saved me SO much.  That's why I find so much importance in being confident and comfortable with your doctor.   I hope all goes well for you.  Please keep us posted!
