Your mom may be able to get away with a simple lumpectomy, Shannon, no radiation - that would be the best-case scenario. However, I'm guessing the docs will recommend she have radiation. They may also recommend an aromatase inhibitor drug for years afterwards. I'd suggest you ask her GP and oncologist to get their heads together to discuss her treatment. Considering her underlying health issues, they may decide to go less aggressive than they might in a younger woman, opting for quality rather than quantity of life. Good luck - PJH
