Hi Mitch: Avastin has been used for triple-negative breast cancer in clinical trials for awhile - not sure how long. It was approved by the FDA as a standard of care drug only very recently, within the past several months. Unfortunately, it's incredibly expensive; it can cost about $100,000 a year to take. And insurance wasn't footing the bill until it was approved. Even now that it is, not sure still how much they'll pay. So I doubt it's being recommended for all triple-negative survivors: first, because it's sill too new. And second, because of its cost. - PJH
