If an ultrasound or other imaging test has confirmed that this is indeed a cyst, the doctor may suggest just watching it to see if it goes away on its own.  If it is painful, or if it doesn't go away, your doctor may suggest having it drained.  I had that done several times in the surgeon's office for large, troublesome cysts.  A local anesthetic was applied, so it didn't hurt.
