Q: Should I go on antibiotics now? I got a bite and scratch from a cat on my arm with hx. lymphedema.

Should I go on antibiotics immediately as I have been bitten and scratched by a cat on my arm that has had lymphedema, On my last blood count 2 months ago my white cells were still slightly low, post chemo and radiation completion sept 1st 2009.

Theresa, call the member of your medical team you feel is most competent in regards to lymphedema. It might be your oncologist; his/her nurse; perhaps a physical therapist. Ask them the question, OK? I assume you've already treated it with a topical antibiotic. Beyond that, not sure how far you should go so call someone tomorrow, OK? Good luck - PJH
