Q: FATTY TISSUE

I've had a lump under my left nipple and some swelling in my upper breast since Oct. 2008. I have had a mammogram, ultrasound, and a mri. The doc said the mri image showed fatty tissue. I just wanted to know why I only have fatty tissue in lump form on my left side. You can see the bumps in my upper chest when I stand or sit but you have to feel under my nipple to feel the lump. It has gotten a bit bigger since I went to the doc. I still don't have anything going on in my right breast no lumps or swelling. I did however have a cyst removed from the right side of my neck in Aug. of this year. Thank you for your time.

This lump may be a lipoma, which is a fatty tumor.  Lipomas aren't dangerous, and they can form in various parts of the body.  I've had one in my arm and in my ankle.  In both cases they were on just one side.
