Mary, there's a misunderstanding here somewhere; breast cancer can't get started on your face. However, in very rare instances, breast cancer can spread from the breast to the the bones in your face: for example, your eye socket, or jaw. I'd suggest you get some clarification from her doctor; I'm sure s/he can help you figure this out. Good luck - PJH
Mary, at age 84, if she does have metastatic cancer, it would be a serious discussion about doing chemo. It absolutely takes a lot out of you, and if her health is poor to begin with, it probably wouldn't be worth the suffering. Tough decision; my dad was 85 when he decided to forego treatment for metastatic cancer. It was the best decision for him, as the time he had left was richly rewarding, and comfortable... But we each have to make our own decision. Take care- PJH

I agree with the misunderstanding. She has yearly mamograms, and the doctor has requested a full body scan (which makes me believe that something was missed and that he fears that the cancer has spread). She is 84 years old. I am so worried about chemo. I had colon cancer 5 years ago and the chemo really took something out of me and I was in my 40's. thanks for the answer. Unfortunately, I believe that it as spread.
