Melissa, you will want to read this post on understanding your pathology report for full details. It sounds like you had a modified radical mastectomy (MRM) which does not remove as much muscle as a radical mastectomy. It appears that the doctor got "clean margins" because it was negative for residual? malignant tumor. They did find more cysts, but that's nothing to worry about. The really good news is that none of the ten lymph nodes they took had cancer cells ("negative for metastasis"). So this was probably the best report you could get for a Stage 2a ductal carcinoma diagnosis. I hope you are healing well from the surgery. You will want to discuss all the details with the surgeon at a follow-up appointment.
