Q: post bilateral mastectomy

almost 4 weeks after bilateral mastectomy, I still feel so tired and feel like I have a tight rubber band across my chest. Is this normal and will it go away. Also have had seroma drained 3 times. Having discomfort in right shoulder and upper arm. Lymph nodes not removed from this side.

Shirl, this is probably entirely normal. It takes MUCH longer to heal than we realize; give yourself time. the tight feeling is probably scar tissue, which should eventually loosen. Also, you may be devleoping some lymphedema even in that off side; or it may simply be general swelling. Whatever it is, please have it checked - if it's the start of lymphedema, you can certainly have it treated with decongesive massage... Good luck - PJH
