Q: i discoverd a lump in my breast 7 months ago and had an ultrasound and mammogram

the results came back lump found?the doctor said it looks like fatty tissue.anyway now 7 months later there is now pain only for the last 3 days my friend said my left breast is bigger than the right and its going a little red around the nipple like spider viens should i be worried the lumps havent grown as far as i can tell but there still there

Tracey,  I don't think it's time to worry yet.  Most lumps are benign, and this one was checked out seven months ago.  However, you do have changes, so it is time to be assertive about finding out what is happening.  I think it would be reasonable to ask for a referral to a breast surgeon for evaluation and possibly a biopsy to set your mind at ease depending on what new imaging tests show.

Tracy, Phyllis is so right. Too often GPs don't take breast lumps seriously enough, and tell you "it feels like" or "it looks like" without really determining what the lump is. As Phyllis says, it might be time to ask for more aggressive action - like an ultrasound or even a biopsy. Don't worry too much, though - 85% of all breast lumps that end up being biopsied are benign. Good luck - PJH
