What is my prognosis?

GRADE 2 infiltrating primary tumor extending to lateral margin post mastectomy

Had lumpectomy and wide angle excision plus removal of nodes

nodes clear 0/7

associated LCIS and intermediate grade DCIS

ER/PR positive HER2 1 +

Had radiotherapy and am on arimidex

I am in mid 50's

Hi - Your prognosis sounds really good, to me - and keep in mind I'm not a doctor, only a fellow survivor. I'd guess your 5-year survival rate, statistically speaking, to be somewhere in the low 90% range? Please ask your oncologist this question, though; only s/he has all the information necessary to give you a really personalized answer. Good luck - PJH

Thank you for such encouraging remarks. Still a bit immunosuppresed following radiotherapy - otherwise except for some aches and pains(on arimedex)ok. I am petrified of risk of recurrence as there were no clear margins which is my main concern. keep up the great work!

Not to worry you at all, but why did they not pursue the margins to get them clear? Usually you'd have further surgery... Glad you're doing relatively well on the Arimidex - that's encouraging! PJH
