Itchy Breasts!

Rowe
10/05/08

I am 27 years old and get very itchy nipples.. Is it possible for me to have breast cancer... I am not pregnant. Im very shy.  I find little lumps in my breast but tend to dissapear when I recheck them or they. Should I see my GP or is there somewhere more private. I live in the Waikato area.

Hi - Since this is happening in both breasts at once; considering your age; and considering itchy breasts/nipples is only very rarely a breast cancer symptom, I'd say there's basically 0% chance it's breast cancer. I'm guessing it's something hormonal, somthing related to your period, as you say the lumps seem to come and go. There's really nowhere more private than your GP; so I'd go to him or her with questions. And if you have a male doctor, you might consider finding a woman; many women are more comfortable with woman GPs. Good luck - PJH
