Q: can Lymph nodes swell after a Breast reduction Surgery?

I recently had a breast reduction. I was having some Problems and the Dr referred me to the ER. They did a CT Scan and it showed a Mass (he referred to it as possible Lymph node) by my Breast Bone. This was 1 week post Surgery. Could they be swollen due to Surgery? I am freaking out and all alone right now!

Anything that puts stress on the immune system can cause the lymph nodes to swell as they fight infection.  If you had an infection, that is probably what caused the lymph nodes to swell.  Even if no infection showed up, you might have avoided it because that lymph node was working extra hard.  Do continue to follow up with the doctor to make sure it returns to normal size, but for now try not to worry.

Thank you so much for your quick reply. I am hoping that is what it is. I am trying to not think about it and tell myself that has to be why. It's hard not to think about it. I was told to follow up with my Dr to get a referral to have a Biopsy done. I am hoping with the healing process continuing they will do another CT Scan before doing the procedure and they have shrunk or disappeared.

Thank you again so much.
