Q: Shaving after axillary node dissection

The following question is a little gross...sorry about asking it here...

I had axillary node dissection recently, the surgeon has removed the fat pocket with all the nodes in it, once the wound heals I would like to shave my underarm. I used to regularly shave my underarm and I enjoy wearing sleeveless tops...I read some where that using an electric razor minimizes cuts and scraps and can be used safely without risks of causing lymphedema...has ne one had ne experience with shaving after axillary node dissection?

Hi - First of all, I found out that the chemo really reduced the frequency I need to shave under my arms - even years afterwards. The hair just hasn't grown back like it once was (YAY - a positive side effect for once!). And if you're careful with a regular razor, there's no reason you shouldn't use it to shave, if you feel it gives you a better shave. I always use an electric razor, just because I'm so clumsy; but if you're good with a real blade, go for it. VERY carefully. SmilePJH
