My husband has a painful, growing , mass under his areola and slightly to the left.  It is about nickel size and round.  It appeared about 5 yrs ago, a mammogram was done with extraction planned.  Insurance was yanked 2 days before surgery.

He had hepatitis as a child.

This mass is growing and causing a lot of pain.  Can he go to an emergency room to have it extracted?

Hi - You mean it was recommended he have it removed 5 years ago, but because of lack of insurance, it wasn't removed? That doesn't sound good. I'd go to an outpatient clinic before the emergency room, as the emergency room is probably more expensive. But if they have a walk-in clinic, try that. He should absolutely have it examined; and you should bring any info. about where he was last seen for it, and by whom, if you have it. Good luck - PJH
