Q: I have recently noticed my right nipple (the part surrounding it) is itchy and there are some tiny kind of hard lumps on one side below nipple- they look like excema. Thoughts?

You could very well have eczema, Kelly, as you mentioned. You might also have a simple allergic reaction to some change in your environment - new shower gel, different laundry detergent, perhaps a new bra that doesn't fit quite right.

If the itchiness and bumps persist for longer than a few weeks; or certainly if they worsen, it would be best to see a doctor. Worst case (though very unlikely), you could have a rare form of breast cancer, Paget's Disease. At any rate, if the itchiness doesn't disappear soon, this would qualify as a breast change, and all breast changes should be assessed and treated, if necessary. In the meantime, hopefully this will resolve on its own. Take care- PJH
