Some doctors suggest that caffeine might encourage cysts to grow, Maria. Other than that, I'm not sure all of these cysts would be related, or have a common cause. If the cysts in your breast are painful, you might consider having them drained. Other than that, this sounds like an issue you might want to discuss with your doctor at your next physical. Best of luck to you - PJH

Thanks.  I just had a mammogram and ultrasound done, it's a complex cyst in my breast and I go next week to get it drained and biopsy of it.  I was just wondering if these can be all related in something I am doing or eating differently. They have just started showing up in the past year.

Maria, cysts can occur anywhere in your body.  Over the years I've had quite a few, including breast cysts.  I asked my doctor if there was a reason I've had so many cysts in so many locations, and he said that some people have a tendency to cyst formation.  Fortunately cysts are rarely dangerous.  The main issue is that it can be hard to tell if a lump is a cyst or cancer without a test like an ultrasound.  So if you do develop more, get them checked out, but try not to worry about them.

Breast cysts are often related to hormonal changes.  I  had quite a few in my 30's and 40's, and my doctor said they would probably go away at menopause.  I haven't had any since menopause.  It probably is not related to anything you are eating or doing, but if you did make a major change before you got the cysts, you could try to change back and see if that makes a difference.
