am 71 years old and recently had a mammogram which found that i have midld to moderate fibroglandular tissue and 4 or 5 well defined small opacities on the upper outer breast with some lucency?  Most likely lymph nodes.  My doctor says nothing to worry about with further explanation?  What do these findings mean should I request an ultrasound of the breasts as well?I occassionally get very sharp pains in my right breast feels like an electric shock lasts maybe 1 or 2 minutes leaves me breathless I need to massage the breast to ease the pain.

On the breast where the opacities the occassional niggling pain closer to the arm pit?

Hi - Since the mammogram shows no problem, and your doctor offered an unsatisfactory explanation, and you're still wondering about this, perhaps you should ask for a referral to a breast specialist. S/he could explain in detail what the mammogram shows, and I'll bet that would set your mind at ease. The kind of pain you describe doesn't sound like a typical breast cancer symptom; please read our post on breast pain for informaiton about what might be causing it. Good luck - hope the pain abates soon! PJH
