i am breastfeeding and i have had a lump in my breast ever since i was pregnate show i ask my doctor
ever since i was pregnate i have had a small lump in my left breast once the baby was born & started breastfeeding the lump has gotten bigger and a new lump has appered on my armpit. I would also like to know if breast cancer happens at any age such as 16 years old.
Irene, since this is a lump that doesn't seem to come and go with any regularity (i.e., it doesn't seemto be attached to your hormones); and since you've discovered new lumps, yes, you should talk to your doctor. Can 16-year-olds get breast cancer? Yes, EXTREMELY rare, but possible. Best to call and see what's up. Good luck with your baby! PJH

Irene - Yes, -please get this checked if only for your own piece of mine.
When I found my first lump is was just weeks after miscarrying my 4th child at 14 weeks. It was just after the D&C and it had been found on my 31st birthday. I thought at first that maybe it was a clogged milk duct or just a bi-product of the pregnany itself - I was too young for cancer. My doctor took it very seriously even though cancer does not run in my family. I had an ultrasound and a mammo done. The mammo itself showed it clear as day that it looked just as the examples did in the pamplets they give you. the ultrasound was more just to tell if it was solid or fluid filled (like if it was possibly a cyst) I was told to have a lumpectomy as soon as possbile. I had a hysterectomy scheled the following wk so I did the lump then. It was possitive and no clear margins, so a wk later I had to get a mastectomy. Very scary - but I knew deep down something was wrong. it felt marble like - and I circled it with a sharpie ,marker till the dr could check it out. Made it easier for tracking and such.
It very well could be nothing, just a cyst, a being lump. But for your own piece of mind you should see your doctor incase it was pregnancy relate - that and most cancers are estrogen (a pregnancy hormone) receptor + which means the cancer grows on the estrogen. So best to get it looked at just in case!
Keep us posted! Best of luck!
