Lia, if you don't trust your doctor's advice, it's best to get a second opinion from another doctor. Have someone else read your file, and give an opinion; if you're at a good hospital, they won't frown at hooking you up with another oncologist. The heart damage you mention with CAF is a rare side effect, but well-known among treating physicians. Trust me, they keep a VERY close eye on you. And the drug that's the possible cause - adriamycin - is a very, VERY common chemo drug, and the vast majority of us have  gotten it without cardiac issues.

I know it's difficult to choose, when presented with choices that may impact your very life. We all go through this; so funny, how they expect YOU to make the decision about how to save your life, when they're the ones with all the knowledge! When I had these choices (and they're quite common), I always went with the most aggressive treatment, and/or the one recommended by the doctor. I got through it, it's in the past, and I'm doing fine. I wish the same for you, Lia. Good luck- PJH
