Just Diagnosed with Cancer? Chat with Experts

Q: Can you help me to understand the difference between rubbery and hard lumps? I can't tell.

I have found a small lump, about the size of a pea, in the upper- very high- region of my right breast. I found it three weeks ago, and I waited for my menstrual cycle to see if it was somehow related. It's still the same size. While researching, I have found information regarding hard, rubbery, and moveable lumps- all part of determining what type of lump and situation this may be. I am curious by the meaning of "hard"- does this mean it's feeling like wood or metal? Does "rubbery" mean that it feels similar to the rest of the masses (I have large, dense breasts)? Does moveable mean that it doesn't stay in the same spot?
