Just Diagnosed with Cancer? Chat with Experts

Q: Lobular Cancer

I was diagnosed and treated for Lobular Cancer left breast 24 malignant lymph nodes. Since lobular does not show up in mammograms-- how will I know if it shows up in other breast? (we had a problem finding the "primary" when the cancer showed up in a lymph node biopsy) I've completed my treatment a year ago and am on Arimidex now. Chest x-rays and c-scan clean so far-- Yea

Hi Betty - It's not that lobular cancer doesn't show up in mammograms - it's just harder to detect. I had lubular cancer, and while no one could feel it, it did in fact appear as an abnormality in my mammogram. So don't give up on mammograms - they're still the best/earliest way to detect breast cancer. Other than that, be sure to report any changes you notice in your breast; take your Arimidex; and stay positive! Congrats on your survivorship- PJH
