i found a small lump on left areola which is sore to press on, when i squeezed this white stuff came out followed by some blood, i also have an indent on my nipple which i have not noticed before like a line dented across it, my mum and aunt have both had mastectomy's but the were past the menapause when they had breast cancer, i am 36 and feeling very anxious,can you help or advise me in some way.

Sarah, sounds like you may have an infection, either in a milk duct, or in one of the small oil glands around your nipple. Try some antibiotic cream, and a loose dressing; if it doesn't clear up in a few days, best to call the doctor and get it treated, OK? With your family history of breast cancer, it's good to be cautious; but this does sound like an infection to me... Good luck - PJH
