my patology report says i am her2 negative and estogen positive it also says

my overall grade is 1/3

lymphovascular invasion:none identified

ductal carcinoma in situ: low grade micropapillary pattern

microcalcifications:none indentified

invasive ductal carcinoma: well differentiated grade 1

 

also i have 4 masses the biggest two are 0.2 cm in maximum linear and the other two are smaller but i do not have a size. my surgeun says i can only get a mastecomy and has not said what treatment i will need after does this sound about right?

Hi Laura - I'm no doctor, but to answer your question, yes, this sounds right. I'd guess you don't have a choice about lumpectomy/mastectomy because of the number of very small tumors (.2cm is about 1/16");even though they're small, they may be scattered, and taking out four "divots" of breast probably doesn't hack it; it's not practical, as far as trying to get good, clean margins; and wouldn't leave you with a good-looking outcome. My GUESS at further treatment would be possible radiation, if any of the tumors were very close to your chest wall. Not sure about chemo - no lymph nodes is a very good sign, and the rest of your pathology report sounds very promising, so you might be able to skip chemo. Then I'd guess you'll be taking tamoxifen or some other hormone therapy drug for several years. Good luck- stya in touch on this site, I think you'll find it very helpful. -PJH
