Laura, first of all, take a DEEP breath. Yes, the first person you deal with is the surgeon, who'll remove the tumors, sample your lymph nodes (probably one "sentinel" node), and will hand everythng over to the pathologist, who'll then report back to the doctor with all the information (s)he needs to developa treatment plan. As I said in my other answer to you, it sounds like the initial biopsy report was very positive; really, from all evidence it looks like you're in good shape here.

It's VERY common to be worried out of your mind; but understand that your degress of anxiety somes from the fact that you're beginning to realize you have a life threatening illness, which of course is very shocking - initially. But once you get past this first big "kick in the gut" shock, you'll be able to eat, to sleep, to get on with your treatment and get through it—I promise.

Breast cancer grows VERY slowly; don't worry about how long it takes to get your surgery, nor about your tumors metastasizing while you wait (and the surgeon will be sure they don't "stick to the chest wall").

Good luck going forward - you can do this! -PJH

Laura I know how very hard this all is on you, but really, try to focus on breathing.  No matter what they say the grade is, cancer still grows pretty slow.  My orogonal cancer in 2005 was a grade 3 (the fastest growing most aggressive type) they are now saying my reoccurence found embedded with my chest wall is from my original cancer although EVERYTHING came back clean.  That means it has been growing for 3 YEARS!

but look, it didn't kill me.  I'm doing okay and will continue to do so.  I'm not thrilled to be here again, but I know what I have to do and what to expect.  You will survive!

If you anxiety is so bad ask for a lil xanax to help at times, especially to help sleep or before a big doctor appt.  Remember JUST BREATHE!  We're here for you!
