how do you know if breast cancer has metatasied

i am going tomorrow for a lymph node biopsy. i was diagonsied on may20 and the are suggesting a matsectamy

Laura, if cancer is in your lymph nodes, that means it's spread out of your breast - but not necessarily metastasized. Ask them exactly why they're suggesting a mastectomy rather than lumpectomy; they'll have an answer for you, I'm sure. Good luck - PJH
