is soy ok to take with premenopausal estrogen + breast cancer
Soy is rich in estrogen, so my oncologist didn't want me eating soy regularly. Some people believe that eating natural soy products like soy beans and tofu (as opposed to the processed soy added to other foods) may help prevent breast cancer. However, this idea is controversial. If you have breast cancer, you should talk to your oncologist about whether you should be taking any form of extra estrogen. I think most doctors would advise against it, but there may be details in your medical history that would make it beneficial.

Hi Laura: As Phyllis says, there's some controversy about the effects of soy on breast cancer. From what I've read, it's OK to eat soy in its natural form (e.g., tofu, soy nuts, soy milk), so long as you don't overdo it; but not OK when the soybean's broken down and some of its elements put into a supplement, as in a cure for menopause symptoms. Please read my post on soy; I think it'll help clarify things for you. Good luck - PJH
