Just Diagnosed with Cancer? Chat with Experts

Thursday, February 25, 2010 Gini asks

Q: adnexal mass

Good Evening,

I have been diagnosed with an adnexal mass.  I have had breast cancer and kidney cancer. Both on the right side.  The breast cancer was HR+ and had gone into a lymph node.It was invasive ductual carcinoma. I am on Tamoxifin.  There is not a complete diagnosis of this mass as which cancer may of generated this mass, but it is possible that it could be a benign tumor.  My question is could this be a third type of cancer - is there a possibility?  I see a surgeon next week.

Gini, I don't know about kidney cancer, but this wouldn't be a metastasis of breast cancer, since it's apparently in or near your ovaries. It could indeed by ovarian cancer, but it could also be a lot of other things: an ovarian cyst, a benign tumor, a fibroid... I hope you get good news from the rest of your diagnostic testing. PJH
