I am wondering what immediate reconstruction is about after the tissue is removed, with skin in tack and nipple removed.  I realize you can choose other methods of reconstruction, however, I am interested in knowing if an implant can be placed under the skin during the same operation?.

Yes, Gini, an implant can be done during the same surgery; read our FAQS on implant surgery. Also, you could choose to have immediate reconstruction using tissue from another part of your body; you might want to read our FAQS on that surgery, too. Best of luck with this - PJH
