Q: negative mammogram and ultrasound

why does my doc want a surgeon to look at my mammo and ultrasound, radiologist said negative, had a biopsy in 2007, and abnormal mammos ever since, except this one, anyone? And i have asked, my doc said to be safe, but, its negative. I n the last few months I have had, pelvic ultrasound, transvaginal ultasound, endometrial biospy, sonohystergram, and in now in sept a D&C, if all findings are negative, why all of the testing? The standard answer has been ( for both) just to be safe, everything is fine. I do have a uterine polyp, but no excessive bleeding, is this somehow related to the breast at all? thanks for any help, I am 43 years old

Leenie - As you surmise, "just to be safe." Doctors are loathe to NOT do a test, for fear of a future malpractice suit; thus all the testing, which many think is excessive. You can certainly refuse any testing; it's your body. But if your doc just wants a surgeon to look at your mammogram and ultrasound results, well, no harm in that, right? Good luck - PJH
