Q: THE PORT USED FOR CHEMO. IS IT PAINFUL TO HAVE PUT IN? SHOULD I ASK TO HAVE A TWILIGHT?

Jo, I haven't heard that this is overly painful. Readers - could anyone who's had this done give Jo some advice about local or other anesthetic? Anyway, I think it's a great idea, Jo - I wish I'd done it. Good luck - PJH

I personally would suggest that you have at least a twilight! Have had mine in since June and I am glad to have had it.

When I went to see the surgeon who put my port in the first time he would only put it in while I was put to sleep. when I had it taken out he only used the twilight. I really was grateful for having the port as it kept the nurses from having to stick needles in my arm.
