Okay I have had a core needle biopsy of a lump right below the skin of my areola / nipple. The report DID RULE OUT a malignancy, fibroadenoma, absess and cyst... Not sure what it is though. So that was good news to me. The lump is attached to the underneth of the skin of the areola. My nipple seems to be retracting in and towards the right and the skin is peeling sligtly almost as if you would peel after a sunburn. It does not really ich but there is a tiny sore about the size of a ball point pin head and the skin that peels completely surounds this sore a half inch out all the way around. What could cause this.... Ive had this lump for about a year and it has slowly gotten bigger? from a bb to a gum ball... Is there anyway this could be pagets if the lump was found to have no malignancy. The skin was not tested..... Should I even call the doctor and mention the peeling and sore or should i just stop all this foolishness all together... I feel like a hypocondriac. spell check? Thanks
Hi - Of course you're not a hypochondriac! You have a lump in your breast that's slowly been growing, and now you have nipple issues. Just because it's not cancer, doesn't mean you don't want to know what it is.
I'd suggest you ask your doctor for a referral to a breast specialist; tell him/her you're still experiencing breast changes, and it's your responsibility, to yourself and your family, to figure out what's causing them. If your doctor won't cooperate, contact a Comprehensive Cancer Center (which is where a breast specialist is mostl likely to be located), and ask what you need to do to get a second opinion. Good luck - PJH
Thanks for the advice. I think what Ill do is wait a couple weeks and see what happens. I think sometimes I over think things although ive had this lump for a year and just recently brought it to my docs attention and got the biopsy. Ill keep telling myself that the biopsy was not malignant and that the peeling and sore will go away... Hey maybe it will but if not or it gets worse ill go to my pcp and see if she will maybe refer me to a dermatologist. that way the doc that did my biopsy wont think im a crazy person...
Sounds like a good plan - hope it just goes away on its own, that would certainly simplify things! PJH
